Stay at Home Wife = Status Symbol?

Would you respect a “stay-at-home wife”?  - This is the title of an article that was featured on The Daily Buzz .  I have read the article a couple of times and am still not sure if it is for or against women choosing not to be in the workforce .  I happen to be one of these wives.  I am fortunate to be able to stay home and run our household without having to try and bring in an income.  My daughter is 15 and in high school, so I don’t think that I would be considered a stay at home mom anymore. I don’t believe that women who choose to stay home are wasting their education or other talents.  I know many women who do volunteer work, are able to prepare dinner for the family and have a sit down dinner, and maintain a orderly house because they don’t have outside pressures from work.  I maybe rambling, but I sort of felt insulted by some of the things this article implied.

  3. There’s nothing wrong with a stay-at-home wife, but I advise my daughter against it. Back in the old days things were different but nowadays we live in a world of 50% divorce rates. A housewife who is dumped by the husband will have no work experience or skills to get back into employment to put food on the table for both herself or any children she may have. It’s better to have a career on the side just in case.
